The Blind Cafe

June, TBA: The Blind Café is a “sensory tasting experience” as participants eat their gourmet dinner in complete darkness. Proceeds go to local nonprofits to help raise awareness of the local blind community. June details weren’t set at press time, so check www.theblindcafe.com/boulder.

Blue Sky Bridge: A Moveable Feast XVII

May 31: The evening begins with a large cocktail party for all guests; then smaller groups move on to other private homes for a feast of courses, from appetizers to dessert. Proceeds benefit Blue Sky Bridge, an advocacy center working to create a community free of child abuse. www.blueskybridge.org.

Boulder County AIDS Project: Absolute! Fabulous! Gorgeous!

Aug. 23: 9th annual drag show and community celebration helps raise funds to promote HIV awareness and prevention. 5:30-10pm at Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut St. www.bcap.org.

Buffalo Bicycle Classic

Sept. 7: Annual bike race raises scholarship funds for CU students; see listing under Bicycling Events. www.buffalobicycleclassic.com.

Culture Jam

June 21: Culture Jam, sponsored by Left Hand Brewing Company, celebrates the cultural diversity of the community with a family-friendly evening of live music, dancing and the arts; proceeds benefit Intercambio Uniting Communities. 5-10pm at Left Hand Brewing, 1265 Boston Ave., Longmont. www.lefthandbrewing.com.

Growing Gardens ¡Cultiva! Dinner

Aug. 9: This fundraiser, which benefits the nonprofit Growing Gardens and its community programs, is a farm-to-table dinner. Local chefs prepare five courses using fresh organic ingredients from the ¡Cultiva! garden, plus locally raised meats and local beer and wine. Wear garden-party attire and garden-friendly footwear. 5-9pm at 1630 Hawthorn Ave. Tickets: www.growinggardens.org.

Home on the Grange

June 7: Now in its second year, this fundraiser supports the upkeep of the Altona Grange so Grange members and community groups can use it and enjoy its rich history. The event includes live music, food trucks, children’s activities, vendor booths, a mini farmers’ market and a silent auction. 10am-6pm at the Grange, 39th Street and Nelson Road in Longmont. www.altonagrange.org.

“I Have a Dream” 12th Annual Golf Tournament & Helicopter Ball Drop

June 2: Help support I Have a Dream’s mission of sending low-income students to college. Annual tournament includes breakfast, lunch, on-course beverages and prizes. The Helicopter Ball Drop is an additional fundraiser; people purchase numbered golf balls that are dropped from a helicopter onto targets, and those closest to the targets win prizes. Aug. 2: Left Hand Brewing Co. hosts this event that helps raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It features the Mile-High Tribute Band Competition, plus craft beer and food. Noon-8pm at 1265 Boston Ave., Longmont. www.lefthandbrewing.com.

Longmont Chamber: Commerce Cup Open

May 30: Annual golf tournament sponsored by the Longmont Chamber benefits a different local nonprofit each year. Noon-6pm at Ute Creek Golf Course, 2000 Ute Creek Drive in Longmont. 303-776-5295; www.longmontchamber.org.

1940s WWII-Era Ball

June 14: This nostalgic fundraiser always sells out, so get your tickets early. Proceeds help support the Wounded Warriors Project and the Spirit of Flight Center. Admission includes dancing and live music amidst World War II planes, plus a parachute jump, swing-dancing lessons, a classic car show and vintage jeeps that transport you back to your car. There’s even a roulette table inside “Rick’s Café Americain.” 5pm at the Boulder Airport (blue hangar), 3393 Airport Road. www.1940sball.org.

Out Boulder Garden Party

June 1: Annual fundraiser for Out Boulder also includes the Big Hearts and Allies in Action awards. 4-8pm; register at www.outboulder.org for location.

Spaghetti Open Golf Tournament

July 11: Entry fee includes a hole-in-one contest, breakfast and a luncheon awards banquet; proceeds benefit the Louisville Chamber. 7:30am tee-off at the Broadlands Golf Course, 4380 W. 144th Ave, Broomfield. (Coal Creek Golf Course in Louisville, the regular site of the tournament, was heavily damaged in the September 2013 floods.) www.louisvillechamber.com.

There with Care: “Fore” Care Cup Challenge

June 10: Golf tournament at Omni Interlocken Golf Club in Broomfield benefits There with Care, an organization that helps families and children facing critical illness. www.therewithcare.org.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary: Summer Safari

The sanctuary’s signature fundraising event is held on several different dates in the summer to allow more people to attend, but also to keep it intimate. The event includes a personal tour of the facility by the founder, plus a buffet dinner and a presentation. Though there are eight scheduled dates, five were already sold out at press time, so please check online to see if the July 26, Aug. 9 or Aug. 23 events are still open. Y Splash 2014

June 14: Annual fundraiser for the YMCA of Boulder Valley includes dinner, live and silent auctions, and prize drawings, all poolside at the YMCABV’s Arapahoe Center, corner of 95th and Arapahoe. Details and ticket info: www.ymcabv.org.
