Feast your way through the Mediterranean region with the Mediterranean Restaurant’s cuisine, adopted from regions of France, Spain and Italy, to name just a few. Start with tasty tapas that include fried calamari; grilled lamb, shrimp or chicken brochettes; and curry-honey or roasted red pepper and harissa hummus. Enjoy classic Italian pizzas from the wood-burning oven, like the classic Margherita with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella, or the Stagione with Kalamata olives, Black Forest ham, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. Fresh salads include blackened chicken Espagna and a Mediterranean sampler. Sandwiches include Med Dip, Pastrami-style NY strip steak, carmelized onions, mozzarella, dijon, and cabernet jus and Salmon Club, grilled salmon, applewood smoked bacon, mashed avocado, wasabi pesto, lime soy with lettuce, tomato and red onion. Other entrées include tuna Agrigento with roasted portobello mushrooms, asparagus and a smoked-tomato emulsion; and spaghettini Bolognese tossed with a braised meat sauce, tomatoes and a hint of cream. Desserts include Chocolate Almond Tower with a warm molten center, caramel ice cream and caramel sauce, and crème brûlée. Wines from the Mediterranean and California. Happy hour daily from 3-6:30pm features half-price appetizers and $1 off draft beers, house wines and premium liquors. Downtown parking validated. Since opening in 2006, Restaurant 4580 has earned its reputation as a neighborhood gem, with fantastic food and drink, a dazzling atmosphere, affordable prices and impeccable service. Owner Martin Hammer is often at the restaurant greeting diners. Settle in the comfortable dining room with foothills views, at the lively bar, on one of the two large patios, or in the private dining room. Highlights of the seasonally changing menu include 4580’s signature chorizo-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates, black and white tuna, steamed mussels and Rhode Island empanadas. Large plates include juicy burgers, daily pasta, petite fillet, black and gold duck, jambalaya, bereberé tofu and not-to-be-missed peanut-crusted ahi. For a sweet ending, try a tasty housemade dessert or a decadent dessert Martini. Lunch features burgers, sandwiches, big salads, pasta and more. 4580’s menu is mostly gluten-free, it offers a children’s menu, and kids eat free before 6 pm. The bar offers wines from smaller producers around the world, a dozen wines by the glass, draft beers and specialty drinks. Happy hour, served in the bar area Mon-Sun 4-6pm and late night 9pm to close, features specials on wine, beer and spirits and fantastic half-price deals on small plates. Special dinners are hosted monthly. Open for dinner Mon-Sun 5pm-close and lunch Mon-Fri from 11am-2pm. The full menu is available for takeout, and there’s a large free parking lot at the rear of the building. All major credit cards accepted.
