Casually elegant and at the same time family friendly, Arugula offers exquisite Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. Start your meal with housemade vin santo pâté, made Tuscan style and finished with vin santo wine. Other appetizers include an arugula (of course!) salad or assorted local organic Hazel Dell mushrooms sautéed and finished with Gorgonzola and parsley. For an entrée, don’t miss the balsamic-seared scallops with strawberry risotto, or try the Long Family Farm pork tenderloin grilled with apple, oregano and grappa sauce, or the Pacific Dover sole “Francese”—egg-battered filets with roasted tomatoes and hazelnut pesto sauce. Complement your meal with a choice from Arugula’s expansive wine list of 250 labels, or a treat from their complete espresso bar. Ample free parking and outdoor patio.

Feast your way through the Mediter-ranean region with the Mediterranean Restaurant’s cuisine, adopted from regions of France, Spain and Italy, to name just a few. Start with tasty tapas that include :fried calamari; grilled lamb, shrimp or chicken brochettes; and curry-honey or roasted red pepper and harissa hummus. Enjoy classic Italian pizzas from the wood-burning oven, like the classic Margherita with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella, or the Stagione with Kalamata olives, Black Forest ham, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. Fresh salads include blackened chicken Espagna and a Mediterranean sampler. Sandwiches include souvlaki with grilled lamb brochettes wrapped in pita, and the Francescano with grilled chicken, prosciutto, mozzarella, basil pesto and roasted peppers wrapped in pita. Authentic Spanish paellas feature sausage and chicken; fresh seafood; and roasted vegetables with feta. Other entrées include tuna Agrigento with roasted portobello mushrooms, asparagus and a smoked-tomato emulsion; and spaghettini Bolognese tossed with a braised meat sauce, tomatoes and a hint of cream. Desserts include Chocolate Almond Tower with a warm molten center, caramel ice cream and caramel sauce, and Key lime pie. Wines from the Mediterranean and California. Since opening in 2006, Restaurant 4580 has earned its reputation as a neighborhood gem. Fantastic food and drink, a dazzling atmosphere, affordable prices and impeccable service make you feel like you belong there. Owner Martin Hammer is at the restaurant greeting every table of diners every night. Settle in the comfortable dining room with foothills views, at the lively bar, al fresco on one of the two large patios, or in the private dining room. Highlights of the seasonally changing menu include 4580’s signature chorizo-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dates; grilled cheese sliders; duck empañadas; and made-to-order mozzarella. Large plates include house-made pasta, steak frites, Moroccan duck confit, braised lamb shank and the not-to-be-missed truffled lobster risotto. For a sweet ending, try a tasty house-made dessert or a decadent dessert Martini. The Sunday brunch menu includes eggs Benedict, steak and eggs and quiche of the day. 4580 aims to please; its menu is mostly gluten free, there’s a children’s menu, and kids eat free before 6pm. The 4580 bar offers wines from smaller producers around the world, a dozen wines by the glass and specialty drinks like the Chaitini and the Mediterranean 75. Happy hour, served in the bar area Tues-Sun 5-6pm, features specials on wine, beer and Margaritas, and fantastic half-price deals on small plates. Special dinners are hosted monthly.
