The Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites has been and continues to be extremely committed to the environment. They truly are setting the standard for “green” hotels. The property proudly features solar panels, which will save 28,312 kWh of electricity production annually for the next thirty years. The hotel has been retrofitted to accommodate energy efficient light bulbs, they have a composting program, a recycling program and they purchase products made of recycled content. All guest rooms in the hotel have an energy management system that reduces energy levels and the hotel purchases energy saving electronics and equipment. They have installed motion sensor lighting in public areas and employee restrooms and all exterior lighting is sensor controlled as well. The hotel has a towel and linen reuse program in addition to a bicycle program that offers complimentary bicycles to their guests as an alternative to driving. Water conservation is a big part of the Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites, accordingly all guest bathrooms have low flow shower heads and faucets and all guest and public bathrooms have duel flush toilets, which equates to a 44% water savings over traditional toilets. Guest bathrooms are outfitted with shampoo, shower gel, hand soap and lotion dispensers, which reduces the use of plastic bottles. The Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites is also a part of the Choice Hotels International Supports Green Practices Program. Currently the hotel is in the process of becoming zero waste by diverting 70% or more to composting or recycling, they are also eligible for the Energy Star award and are in the process of submitting for this recognition. Moreover, I believe the above reasons displays why the Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites is truly deserving of the acknowledgement as an “Environmental Hero”.

The Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites has participated in the “10 for Change” program, as well as the Watts to Water program. They proudly support Rebuilding Together, donate to the Boulder Humane Society and participate in Lee National Denim Day. They also served on a Western Disposal panel whose purpose was to focus on what businesses can do to enhance green practices.

Awards: The Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites was the 2nd place recipient for Lewis Hotels along with their sister property as the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Green Hospitality Award Winner in 2011. They were recognized in 2011 through the Colorado Carbon Fund for participation in the Earth Week Offsets Campaign.The Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites is a consecutive five time platinum award winner through Choice Hotels International. In 2010 the Boulder Creek Quality Inn & Suites was recognized by Partners for A Clean Environment (PACE) for their commitment to the environment.
