Boulder Creek Festival
May 25-27: This huge three-day festival is Boulder’s unofficial kickoff to summer, with live performances, hands-on activities, food booths, vendor booths, carnival rides, a fishing derby, and the signature event, the duck race that raises funds for the EXPAND Program, which provides recreational opportunities for people with disabilities. Estes Park Winter Festival
Jan. 18-21: Celebrate all things winter at this annual festival on Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend. There’s an ice castle and maze, pony rides, a chili cookoff, wine and beer tasting, a scavenger hunt, horse and carriage rides, and live music. Frozen Dead Guy Days
March 8-10: Annual festival in Nederland celebrates “the good, the bad and the frozen,” with popular events like coffin racing, polar plunging, ice turkey bowling, brain freeze contests, a snowball fight, snowy beach volleyball, and a frozen salmon toss, plus live music and food and drink. www.frozendeadguydays.org.
