The Arts Hub opened in August

When Lori Jones opened The Art Underground in Louisville in 2007, she knew within a very short time that she would eventually need more space. As east Boulder County’s population continued to grow, so did her nonprofit arts center, which at first occupied just two rooms in a basement and eventually had to spread out to other classrooms and performance venues around the county.
So, about five years ago, Jones announced ambitious plans to expand into nearby Lafayette with a much larger facility, capable of handling all the dance, art, theater and film programs, classes and performances The Art Underground produces.
After years of planning, fundraising and construction, The Arts Hub in Lafayette opened with great fanfare on Aug. 27, at 420 Courtney Way. The 14,000-square-foot facility features a theater complete with a large stage, a costume-storage area and a dressing room; a catering kitchen; several classrooms; an outdoor sculpture garden; and—most importantly to Jones—space to expand in the future.
“Creativity and art are at the core of all community development,” says Jones. “We are hoping to work closely with the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission to make sure we’re helping to meet the arts needs of the local community and maximizing the potential regional impact.”
