The Shortlist: 6/17 – 6/19
Happy (Almost) Summer, Boulderites! Monday marks the Summer Solstice, or the first day of Summer 2016 – which makes this the last weekend of Spring 2016. This weekend is all about bettering yourself to close off the season. We have a handful of fun, productive activities lined up for you this weekend.
1. Farm-to-Table Cheesemaking Workshop
This one is for all of the foodies out there. This Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the Haystack Mountain Goat Cheese Creamery will be hosting cheese making workshops. Each day will focus on a cheese from a different farm animal – goat, sheep, and cows! In these classes you will have the opportunity to play with the baby animals and learn about their milk, and then go on to learn how to make cheese from their milk. Registration and a fee is required before each class. Click here to get started.
2. Pest and Disease in the Garden
Get your garden in check before the pests get the best of it! The Growing Gardens Green House is hosting a community class to help gardeners get a grip on the insects and plant diseases in your garden. The class will focus on ways to proactively combat these issues in the most humane and organic way. With a long summer of gardening coming up, you want to be sure that you have all the proper tools to make sure you tomatoes and strawberries survive. A $40 fee is required at the door – click here for more information.
3. Road Runners Sunday Social
Get your Sunday started right with the Boulder Road Runners Social Run and Walk. The group meets every Sunday morning at 8 AM in the Boulder Public Library parking lot to start their route on the Boulder Creek Path and beyond! The route can vary from 2-8 miles. It is a wonderful, refreshing way to get out and get your blood flowing, while also enjoying the company of others. The Road Runners will provide snacks and refreshments for all!
