Boulder Film SeriesFridays and Saturdays: The Backdoor Theater in Nederland is a nonprofit, 260-seat film venue that screens first-run, foreign and classic movies most Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm. Boulder International Film Festival The Colorado Film Society is accepting applications for BIFF’s Youth Advisory Council, open to Boulder County students in grades 8-12. Apply online at BIFF1.com. Filmmakers: Submit your film between June 1 and September 1 for BIFF 11, Feb 17-20. Saturdays: For the 15th season, cult favorites, classics and family fare return to the parking lot behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, 1750 13th St. The season runs July 10-Aug. 14, with pre-shows at 7 and screenings at dusk. BOULDER PUBLIC LIBRARY CINEMA PROGRAM Mondays & Thursdays: Throughout the summer months, check out “Water Your Mind,” a quirky grouping of films on the theme of water, or somethimes just with watery words in the title. BROOMFIELD INDEPENDENT FILM SERIES The Broomfield Independent Film Series, a nonprofit project, gives local filmmakers a large venue to present their works and offers film buffs diverse entertainment. Students along the Front Range in grades 6 through 12 are invited to enter Video Fest 2010. The deadline for submissions is Oct 1, 2010. The store is at 2525 Arapahoe Ave. Select Wednesdays: Buster Keaton, Greta Garbo, Charlie Chaplinjust some of the silent film stars featured in Chautauqua’s summer lineup, scheduled for select Wednesdays. Movies begin at 7:30pm in the Chautauqua Auditorium and feature lively accompaniment by either Hank Troy on piano or the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra. Tuesdays: Come share the moonlight! One of the metro-area's signature summer events, Film on the Rocks, returns for its 11th Season with ten films over ten weeks beginning June 8 and running through August 11. Each week this summer, a favorite film paired with a band will appear at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, hosted by local comedians. Doors open at 6:30pm, films show at dusk. PHIPPS IMAX THEATER AT DENVER MUSEUM OF NATURE AND SCIENCE Explore the ancient tombs of a lost city and dive into the shipwrecks of the Red Sea as the IMAX theater at DMNS presents “Arabia.” The amazing journey of the Hubble Space Telescope is recounted in “Hubble,” a dramatic ride through the story of the greatest success in space since the moon landing.
