Boulder County Farmers’ Market Fine Arts & Crafts Fairs Monthly: While you’re stocking up on produce and other local goodies at the Boulder County Farmers’ Market, check out the Fine Art & Fine Craft Fairs, juried shows that are held in conjunction with the market one Saturday each month. Next to the Farmers’ Market in Central Park, off 13th Street between Canyon and Arapahoe. 303-443-4053. Boulder International Fringe Festival Aug. 18-29: All unjuried, all uncensored, and all in Boulder, the sixth annual Fringe Festival brings in performers from all over the countrytheater troupes, dancers, comedians, musicians, visual artists, puppeteers and much more. In 12 days, more than 300 performances are held at a variety of venues throughout Boulder; the show at each venue that sells the most tickets gets a chance to perform a special encore show on the closing night of the festival. C.R.A.B. (Constantly Risking Absurdity, Baby) sessions, held each night of the festival, are live talk shows where artists take the stage to talk about their work. Sept. 3-6: The Boulder Art Association (BAA) and the Colorado Chautauqua Association present the third annual juried art exhibition at the historic Chautauqua Community House, September 3-6. This year’s theme is COLOR-ado! and entries will be juried by Polly Addison and Elizabeth Black. A reception and awards ceremony will be held Friday, September 3 from 6-8 pm. The show runs 12-8pm Friday, 10am-8pm Saturday & Sunday, and 10am-4pm Monday. First Friday Boulder is a walking tour of participating Boulder art galleries and shops on the first Friday of each month. Longmont Art in Public Places Ongoing Tours Longmont’s AIPP recently installed the 50th permanent piece in its extensive collection of public art. The Longmont Bike Map (available online or at the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center, 400 Quail Road) shows the locations of all the works in the collection, so you can design your own walking, biking or driving tour. Third Saturdays” every third Saturday of the month from 9am-noon; work in any medium, watch the demonstration, and receive a free group critique of your work if you wish. The association also sponsors the Young Artists Showcase each April and holds meetings, workshops and classes. Louisville Center for the Arts, 801 Grant Ave. Saturdays: This popular hybrid of a fine-arts fair and a farmers’ market is held every Saturday in the summer from 10am-3pm at 446 Main St. in Lyons. The event also includes children’s activities and live music. OpenArts On January 1, 2010, the Open Studios organization became known as OpenArts. This name change is in recognition of our broader role in the arts and the community. "Open Studios" will continue on as the brand name for the premier fall event. The Board's decision to undergo a name change was the result of the acquisition of Clementine Studio, the Spring Art Fair and the Holiday Market. In an effort to inform the public that all of these events and activities are owned and presented by one organization, it has became apparent that a new umbrella name is necessary. We hope you understand the need for this change and trust that we will continue to promote our events and activities with the familiar brand redundancy we all know and love.
