Violets are red,

Roses are blue,

I’m terrible at poetry,

But are you?

Regardless of how terrible may be at poetry, Boulder County hosts a great many craftspeople of verse. Hosted by ARTS!Lafayette and the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission, the 2015 Michael Adams Poetry Prize will be accepting entries until March 22, 2015.

Michael Adams, for whom the prize is dedicated, was a founding board member of ARTS!Lafayette and a talented poet. His passion for poetry, the arts and community led him to be a longtime member and chair of the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission. He lost his life to cancer in September of 2013.

Over $1200 in prize money will be given out  for the prize, which is open to all Colorado adults and Lafayette youth. Adult categories include: general, Social Justice, and The Natural World. Grand prize takes home $500. Youth entries are divided by age categories: elementary, middle, and high school. All styles, themes, and length will be considered. Winners are invited to read at a public event on April 18, 2015.

Entry fee: $5/poem. Enter here:
