The Shortlist: What To Do in Boulder: 10/21-10/23

Happy Tuesday, Boulderites! There is an undeniable feeling of Halloween in the air. Whether it is the smell of fireplaces, the bountiful orange leaves, or the artificial cobwebs strewn across porches and bushes – it is here! Ghosts, and goblins, and ghouls, oh my!

1. The Dickens Horror Film Festival

Start off your spooky weekend with dinner and a movie at the beautiful and historic Dickens Opera House in Longmont for the Dickens Horror Film Festival. The festival will be put on by the same team who brought us the Front Range Film Festival and the Lyons Film Festival. Guests will experience both classic and contemporary films from both established and emerging filmmakers. The event will kick off with a film competition, followed by paranormal investigations and SFX tutorials, closing the night with a costume competition.

2. Estes Park Fall Fest

Enjoy the scenic route, and take a drive up to Estes Park on Saturday afternoon for the YMCA of the Rockies’ Fall Fest. There will be s’mores, hotdogs, pumpkin carving, square dancing, and hay rides for all! After all the fun is over, maybe even stop in at the Stanley Hotel for a little REDRUM before heading back to Boulder.

3. POSHsplat Family Day Paint: “Boo!”

Wrap up this fun weekend with the family at POSHsplat! Staying true to the Halloween spirit, this weekend’s class will be a step-by-step guidance in painting some Halloween decor to bring home. Come down this Sunday afternoon to get your inner-artist on.
